GREEN WORLD..........Clean world

"The Woods are lovely, dark and deep......"

But where are the woods? Are they really there?  Over population, rapid industrial growth, increasing number of automobiles, devastating floods-do all this ring alarm bells?  Well, it had better do or we are staring at catastrophy in the face.

Due to deforestation and increasing urbanization, the average temperature of the atmosphere may rise by 2’C-5’C or even more during the next fifty years. This is known as “global warming”. This rise in temperature will result in melting of snowy mountains, rise in water lvel of the seas and sinking of cities and villages located on the sea coast.

Harmful gases released by chemical factories, travel long distances. They come in contact with cloud or rain water and turn into acid, causing acid rain. This could erode some of our precious monuments beyond recognition.

Tall buildings absorb heat during the day and release it at night. Thus, the weather remains hot and unpleasant.

Is there an answer? Yes! Yes! Yes! The very simple, sure and urgent answer is “Grow more trees”. We must grow trees wherever we can; in parks, at home, at school, just wherever possible. If there is no space for trees then, shrubs or creepers can be raised in pots and wooden boxes or spread on walls or poles, without occupying any additional space.

It is better to plant the seedlings during the rainy seasons. Water the plants if it is not raining. Apply a handful or farmyard manure around the plant. Once we protect the plants till they grow tall, the trees will protect our environment for hundreds of years

Let us act now and persuade others to join us. This will ensure safety for our future generations.
